This problem is related to the way Time Shadow uses the (MDAC) Microsoft Data Access Components. This problem will most likely occur on systems running Windows 2000 but it can occur on any system that has been upgraded to the latest version of MDAC. We are working on a release to address this issue. However, for now follow these steps for a temporary solution:
|
- Download the following utility.
http://www.softwaremaniacs.com/downloads/tsdiag.exe
- Please put this utility into the Time Shadow program folder. On a default installation this is located at C:\Program Files\Software Maniacs\Time Shadow
(NOTE: If you are using the "Basic" edition of Time Shadow. Do not overwrite the existing copy of TSDiag.exe. Keep it around. However, if you are using the "Solo" edition (has billing module) you can simply overwrite the existing TSDiag.exe, you need this updated one)
- Run this new TSDiag.exe utility by double clicking.
- Choose "Fix 599 error" located under the main menu item "File".

What causes the problem? Clearing the demo database routinely causes this problem. Using the purge records feature in the Administration module can cause the problem also. |

Time Shadow (version 1.1 only) |
I've just installed Time Shadow and I'm getting the error
"Problem opening the Time Shadow Database. Cannot continue." How can I fix this?
|
The most likely cause of this problem is a missing data source device driver. Microsoft supplies these device drivers with their operating systems and products and they are normally present on the machine. We have found that Windows 98 (pre 2nd edition) as well as Windows NT sometimes does not have the needed device drivers installed. Microsoft does provide a free download for these device drivers at: http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/uda/mdac21/mdac_typ21.asp
To resolve the error above you should follow these steps.
- Download MDAC installation. You can use the link above or from any other source you have such as MS product CD's etc. You must install MDAC 2.1 or greater.
- Uninstall Time Shadow.
- Install MDAC
- Re-install Time Shadow
Following these steps in order is important to prevent Time Shadow from having other problems .If you are not certain about following these steps or need other assistance please contact our technical support by using our online support request.

Time Shadow (version 1.1 only) |
When I try to use the "Verify Time Log" feature I receive the error message
"1/1/1900 is not a valid date" How can I fix this?
|
Most likely this error is related to issues with your systems regional settings (ie. You are not located in the USA) not being handled correctly by Time Shadow. You should download and install service pack 1 to resolve this problem and a few other issues related to use of regional setting for date, time and currency. |
Download Service Pack 1 for (Solo Edition)
Download Service Pack 1 for (Basic Edition)
